Kriti Sanon upset with Kartik Aaryan

Along with Bollywood’s dazzling stardom come a few secluded problems that exist in the showbiz. A part of the celebrity business deals with certain disputes and disagreements that are barely talked about. Often the success of a film gets credited only to the male leads of the film and the female actors are given less due for their work. This issue came in the spotlight post the release of Luka Chuppi, which starred Kriti Sanon and Kartik Aaryan in the titular roles. The film is a romantic comedy, based on the story of a couple who wanted to live together before getting married. The film garnered huge numbers at the box office resulting in a blockbuster, but unfortunately, the film’s success was attributed only to the lead hero!

During recent promotions of her next film, Arjun Patiala, Kriti opened up about the same issue and mentioned that it is a common practice in Bollywood where a romantic film is only associated with a male actor and not with the female.

The conversation started after a headline stating ‘Mr. Bachchan’s Badla and Kartik Aryan’s Luka Chuppi do well at the box office’, surfaced. Taapsee pointed it out and tweeted that female actors have also worked in these films. Though it happens at times, I think most people are scared nowadays about not mentioning the work of female actors; they fear that we might tweet about it. Once the conversation started, Arjun (Kapoor) and I also tweeted because a similar incident happened when they started talking about the clash of Panipat (which features Kriti and Arjun) and Pati Patni Aur Woh (Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar, Ananya Panday). There are times when actresses are not given as much importance as the actors, even when it comes to mentioning them in the headline. You don’t call a romantic film a girl’s movie. Some people have a tendency to write in detail about the male lead’s performance and just two lines describing the leading lady’s work. That, too, they focus more on how pretty she looked. Now, that’s upsetting.

- Kriti Sanon to Hindustan Times

Meanwhile, Kriti has gone on to prove her mettle and carved a niche for herself in the industry. Ever since her debut in 2014 with the film Heropanti opposite Tiger Shroff, the 28-year-old actress has come a long way!

She will be next seen in a romantic comedy titled Arjun Patiala, alongside Varun Sharma and Diljit Dosanjh. The film is all set to hit the screens this Friday, July 26, 2019. She will also be seen in Housefull 4 and Ashutosh Gowariker's Panipat with Arjun Kapoor which is slated to release on December 2019.
