Kim Soo-Hyun Case: Actor's agency files case on online creators for malicious comments, sexual harassment

Since a month, the matter around Kim Soo-Hyun and late Kim Sae-Ron has grabbed the attention of everyone who follows Korean dramas. The family of late Kim Sae-Ron through the online channel Garosero Research Institute has claimed that the Queen Of Tears actor dated their daughter for six long years, from the time she was 15. Given the age gap of 12 years between him and the deceased, he has been termed as a groomer and paedophile by netizens. The actor lost a number of endorsements while Knock Off has been indefinitely postponed by Disney+. The actor is handling the controversy through the legal route.

Today, Gold Medalist issued a press statement where they said they would take action on social media posts that damage his reputation. He is being trolled for being a groomer, liar and even someone who could have pushed Kim Sae-ron over the edge. A number of content creators too are making videos while he is fighting the matter legally. In its statement Gold Medalist said such false articles and speculative posts have damaged his reputation.

Recently, malicious posts, comments, and false facts about our artist Kim Soo Hyun have been spread indiscriminately online. In particular, groundless and speculative posts and unconfirmed claims have been repeatedly posted, giving the public a false impression and damaging the artist’s reputation.

Two days back we saw how news spread that Kim Soo-Hyun was allegedly in the car when the DUI accident of Kim Sae-Ron happened. It went viral on social media. He got even more hate from trolls. However, in police records, it was mentioned that she was with a friend. The statement further read, “Malicious slander, false information, personal attacks, and sexual harassment are rampant on online community boards and social media and should not be taken lightly.”

We filed a complaint to the authorities on April 14 for defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act based on fan reports and our own monitoring.”

They also said an anonymous cyber wrecker is producing fake news and videos. It seems they have found his identity and initiated legal proceedings on the same. They also stated, “We will also take strong action on overseas platforms such as YouTube and X (formerly Twitter) with our overseas legal representatives.”

Some time back, Jang Wonyoung had also filed a case against Sojang in an US Court. This move has left netizens shocked and how. While Kim Soo-Hyun is being trolled immensely, the actor has maintained a sense of calm in dealing with this legally.
