Kidnapping tracks are 'trending' on Indian television!

Ever imagined a show without it's leading lady? A Yeh Hai Mohabbatein without Ishita or Swaragini without Swara...

Well, get used to it as all your favourite shows are churning out the same old tried and tested (read exciting and mind boggling) Kidnapping Drama in their ongoing tracks! And no prize for guessing who's being kidnapped... The otherwise overpowering/ #YouDontWannaMessWithHer/ the fearless all rounder/ the family binder/ the self-sacrificing devi/ Miss know-it-all/ aadarsh bahu/ the karta dharta of the show...

Indian television has some kind of an obsession with playing around the cliches. Women are often kidnapped in daily soaps so that their (otherwise invisible) knights in shining armor can portray their heroism (and get some footage, for heaven's sake!) and rescue their damsel in distress, albeit filmi style!

We compiled a list of few such shows that are currently experimenting with this never-seen-before, novel concept...

Only a few months back, Ragini was a very self-centered girl who went all out to achieve what she wanted. She kidnapped Swara and she did not even spare her own mother. How can you kidnap your own mother? (But that's about the track after all)

In the recent track of the show, Soumya has been kidnapped by the Kinnars during Harman and Surbhi's wedding! Earlier, Soumya had been accidentally kidnapped by Harman. Harman, who had set out to kidnap Surbhi, accidentally picked up Soumya. Fans just loved this sequence as they finally got to see some romance bloom between Harman (Vivian Dsena) and Soumya (Rubina Dilaik).

Rishi decides to kidnap the love of his life. During Tanu's wedding, Rishi gets her drink spiked. She falls unconscious and he wraps her in a mat! He then carries her out of the house all rolled up. Definitely, one of the strangest kidnappings we have seen!

Well, this is an upcoming twist on the show. Goons are going to try and kidnap 'someone' but they accidentally kidnap Akshara. Very similar to Shakti... Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki!

In one of the episodes of Kumkum Bhagya, Pragya gets to know that Tanu had kidnapped Dr. Sheela's daughter Pari. This made Sheela lie to everyone. Pragya then arrives at the place where Pari has been kept as a hostage and she manages to free Pari but gets trapped!

Recently, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein has seen a lot of unexpected twists. Ishita has been kidnapped recently by Shagun and Ashok over Pihu's Custody drama. And this is not the first time this is happening! She has been Kidnapped multiple times before!

So many kidnappings! Where are the cops ?!
