Rohit Shetty is a happy man. His latest release Simmba has turned out to be his biggest money spinner at the box office. The film has already minted over Rs 210 crore at the domestic box office and will finish at a lifetime of around 250-260 crore which is huge. But along with establishing Ranveer Singh as the potential superstar in the making, the Chennai Express director also announced his next with Akshay Kumar, with an extended clip during the end credits of Simmba.
Ever since news about Akshay doing Rohit's next broke out, several actresses and their teams have tried to put it out in portals that they are being considered for the role. Reality is it won't help their case with Rohit. There were murmurs that Pooja Hegde is the topmost contender for the film, but we can tell you she's not been locked. Instead, the makers have begun initial talks with another actress.
Kiara Advani who mesmerised the audience with her fantastic act in Lust Stories last year has climbed up the ladder. She is currently being considered to play the lead opposite Akshay. Anyway, the actress is doing another film with Akki, but she isn't paired opposite him. The two will be seen sharing screen space in Good News that will be produced by Karan Johar. Kiara and Diljit Dosanjh play love interests in the movie.
The actress is also close to Akshay since he produced her debut film as well. So, it has worked out well for her. The role in Sooryavanshi for the female lead, like all other Rohit Shetty actions, doesn't have much to offer. They are not looking at casting a top A list actress. Instead, they are planning to cast a young heroine opposite Akshay. They haven't got it all sorted and are only looking at possible combinations.
The film goes on floors in April this year and will be shot across Mumbai, Goa and Hyderabad. The team is planning to close 2019 with Sooryavanshi, that is, they are looking at a similar release like Simmba. The Akshay film is expected to hit screens on December 27 this year.
