Kiara Advani being considered as lead for Indian swimmer Bhakti Sharma's biopic

On the big screen, biopics are typically engrossing, and creators have given us plenty in the last five years. A biography of world-renowned Indian swimmer Bhakti Sharma may be in the works, according to a recent report in the ETimes. Bhakti, an open water swimmer, is the very first Asian woman and the youngest person in the world to establish a global record in competitive swimming in the frigid waters of Antarctica. Her mother, Leena Sharma, has been her coach, and she has shared a few things with the portal.

Every biopic comes with a unique casting option. When asked who she thought would be the ideal fit to play herself and her swimming daughter onscreen, Leena gave two choices that were both incredibly skilled.

Leena replied, 

“I think Shefali Shah and Alia Bhatt would be a great cast"

 However, she added, that the makers are considering Kiara Advani for the role. 

"Although there are talks about Kiara Advani playing Bhakti’s role. I think Shefali can pull off my two avatars, that of Hitler and Mother Teresa. Bhakti calls me Hitler. When Bhakti is in the water I'm Hitler and once she's out, I'm Mother Teresa.”

According to the article, Bhavani Iyer, a screenwriter who has worked on films such as Lootera and Raazi, is in charge of writing Bhakti Sharma's biopic. Leena Sharma, when asked what might have piqued filmmaker's interest in their narrative, stated that we normally hear about fathers teaching their children in sports and other accomplishments. 

However, she said how rarely do we see a mother in the role of coach, and she believes that is what would add depth to her storyline, particularly Bhakti's relationship with her. Leena also stated that she believes her experiences as a mother and a coach make for an intriguing story. There's some adventure, but the focus is more on the mother-daughter bond.
