Kapil Sharma faces Mumbai police inquiry after gunshots at his Canada cafe? Here’s what we know

On Wednesday night, Kap's Cafe, the restaurant owned by actor-comedian Kapil Sharma in Canada, was targeted in an attack by Khalistani terrorists. A man, positioned in a car, fired a minimum of nine shots at a window of the recently opened cafe. After a violent act of vandalism, a team from the Mumbai police visited Kapil Sharma's home on Friday. According to a report by TellyChakkar, the police questioned Kapil about the incident. On July 10, shots were fired at Kaps Caffe, a newly opened cafe in Surrey, British Columbia, owned by comedian Kapil Sharma and his wife, Ginni Chatrath. The cafe, which had recently celebrated its soft opening with an elegant design and menu, was vandalized. Although no injuries were reported, the property sustained damage.

Authorities suspect the attack was a targeted act orchestrated by the Laddi gang, which has ties to the outlawed Khalistani terrorist group, Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). Laddi, who is wanted in India on numerous terrorism charges, is believed to be the mastermind behind several recent attacks targeting Hindu leaders and individuals supportive of India.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has offered a Rs 10 lakh reward for information leading to Laddi's arrest, highlighting the seriousness of his suspected involvement in cross-border extremist activities.

As of now, Kapil Sharma has not released a statement about the incident. However, the Kap's Caffe team issued a statement on Friday. "We opened Kap’s Caffe with hopes of bringing warmth, community, and joy through delicious coffee and friendly conversation. To have violence intersect with that dream is heartbreaking. We are processing this shock, but we are not giving up."

It further read, “Your kind words, prayers, and memories shared via DM mean more than you know. This café exists because of your belief in what we’re building together," it added. Concluding on a hopeful note, the café wrote, “Let’s stand firm against violence and ensure Kap’s Caffe remains a place of warmth and community."
