Kangana Ranaut has recently addressed questions about whether she is ready to reconcile with filmmaker Karan Johar and singer Diljit Dosanjh. In an interview with The New Indian, she revealed that while she has made peace with both, she does not feel the need to be friends with them. This statement came in response to queries about the possibility of "smoking the peace pipe" with the two.
Kangana clarified, “I’m in peace with them. I’m totally in peace with them. When I see a great piece of work whether it is Shershaah coming from Karan Johar or whether something coming from Diljit, I’m very open to appreciate it. It’s just that, do I have to make them my friends or hang out with them? I don’t think that’s important. But do I have anything against them? No, I don’t think so, I have anything against them."
The tension between Kangana and Diljit began in 2020 during the farmers’ protests. Kangana accused Diljit of instigating the protests and claimed he had “disappeared” after supporting the farmers. In response, Diljit refuted her statements and engaged in a fiery exchange with her on X (formerly Twitter). This clash became a defining moment in their public relationship.
Kangana's history with Karan Johar has been equally tumultuous. In 2017, she called him the "flag-bearer of nepotism" on Koffee with Karan, leaving him visibly shocked. Although Karan defended his actions by stating that he hadn't worked with Kangana out of personal choice and not because she was an outsider, the rift between the two grew deeper.
Despite these clashes, Kangana recently expressed a willingness to work with Karan. During her appearance on Indian Idol 15, she remarked, “I’m sorry to say, but Karan sir ko mere saath movie karna chahiye. I’ll give him a very good role and I’ll make a very good film, which will not be saas-bahu ki chuglibaazi and which will not be just, you know, PR exercise. It will be a proper film and he’ll get a proper role."
Kangana's recent comments suggest a shift in her stance toward these controversies. While she makes it clear that she has no animosity toward Karan or Diljit, her emphasis on not needing to be friends signals a more professional and less personal approach to these relationships. It marks a shift towards coexistence, where mutual respect exists, but friendship may not be necessary.
In conclusion, Kangana Ranaut's remarks highlight her ability to separate personal differences from professional respect. While the past disputes with both Karan and Diljit were highly publicized, Kangana’s recent approach indicates her focus on appreciating their work while maintaining her own space in the industry.
