Kamya Punjabi opens up on how women are trolled for wanting to start a new life after divorce or as a single parent

Kamya Panjabi has always been one to voice her opinions without any fear and while she continues to do so with everything that has been happening around her, she also has some important insights to give about how the society perceives women taking their own life decisions, the taboo around divorces and re-marriages, among others. Kamya is a 41-year old and is married to Shalabh Dang. The actress also has a daughter, Aara, from her previous marriage to Bunty Negi.

She went on to say how she is often trolled on social media saying how separation and divorces don't take place in our families. she adds how divorce is a very painful word and she prays to God that no one has to go through it since it is treated as abuse by our society. Further adding to the same, she says that anyone who is a single parent or is a divorcee is not supported by people and often, trolled when they want to start a new life.

Talking about not letting such things get to her, says she that it makes her stronger and how she never got scared and took a backseat, instead, she has done great work and decided to settle down with a nice man. She also added how people were are hesitant in talking about such things and just let it go because people think like this. And in fact, she added how this is how we have been brought up and we run away from things.

She also spoke about her recent short film based on a girl child and added how it is a mirror of the hard truth that is present in society. She also spoke about the urge of families to want a boy child, women being beaten, and she just stood up for a cause. Kamya also highlighted just how there are instances when she has fought for women but they don't take a stand because of how she has grown up and her idea behind making this film was just that, not sell it or monetize it.
