Justin Baldoni Opposes Ryan Reynolds' Exit From $400 Million Lawsuit, Says He's Not Just a Bystander

The ongoing legal drama involving It Ends With Us actors Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni has taken a sharper turn. It all began in December last year, when Blake accused Justin of sexual harassment. Baldoni strongly denied the charges and responded with a defamation lawsuit worth $400 million, naming Blake, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and her publicist.

Now, Ryan Reynolds has requested the court to dismiss him as a defendant. He claimed that Justin’s allegations against him are legally baseless and merely reflect “hurt feelings.” However, Justin’s legal team is not backing down. They are fighting the dismissal and argue that Ryan’s involvement is not just as a supportive spouse, but far more direct.

According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Justin’s side stated, “Ryan pretends that the Wayfarer Parties’ First Amended Complaint fails to set forth any basis for his liability and that he merely acted as a supportive spouse. Not so.” The team insists that Reynolds acted as a “co-conspirator” and should be held accountable. They even argued that if his dismissal is approved, Ryan should not be allowed to recover any legal fees.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Reynolds responded by saying, “The main takeaway from the Wayfarer Parties’ opposition to Ryan’s motion is that they realise the plain defects in their complaint.” The spokesperson also claimed that the allegations lack clear details of defamation—no names, no direct harm mentioned. They added, “Ryan listens to his wife and will continue to support her.”

Justin Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, also released a statement saying that Blake and her “circle of Hollywood elites” are trying to silence his clients. He stressed, “Ms. Lively is attempting to set a dangerous precedent by barring the courthouse doors to my clients.” He added that all Americans deserve the right to seek justice when faced with false claims.

As the case unfolds, both sides remain firm—and it’s clear that the legal storm is far from over.
