Jugjugg Jeeyo, starring Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Neetu Kapoor, and Anil Kapoor, is just fast approaching its theatrical release, but it appears that the picture has stumbled into some legal issues.
According to multiple media reports, a Ranchi-based writer, Vishal singh has sued the filmmakers for alleged copyright violation. The local Ranchi court has checked into the matter, and a viewing of the film is presently scheduled. Raj Mehta helmed Jugjugg Jeeyo, which is produced by Viacom18 Studios and Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, and Apoorva Mehta under Dharma Productions.
Singh alleged that the content of his story named 'Punny Rani' was exploited in the film without acknowledgment and requested a stay on release. He also requested Rs 1.5 crore in compensation. Following the court screening, Judge M C Jha will hear the proceedings and rule whether or not the film breaches the Copyright Act.
Meanwhile the team of Jugjugg Jeeyo have been engaged in a promotional spree and have left no stone unturned in promoting the film. Earlier Varun nad Kiara were spotted in nth Mumbai metro train savoring Vada Pav as they promoted the film.
On Sunday, Varun, Kiara, Neetu, and Anil Kapoor were in New Delhi, where they spoke to a sellout crowd and even shook a leg. Varun and Kiara had been promoting the film in Pune, while Neetu and Anil were in Jaipur imparting JugJugg Jeeyo energies.
Few screenings of the movie have already been organised for the fraternity people and they have been heaping praises for the film on social media. The film will release in cinemas on 24th June.
