Janhvi Kapoor Slams Jaipur Hit-And-Run Incident: Calls for Accountability in Drunk Driving Cases

Janhvi Kapoor has recently voiced her strong feelings after hearing about a tragic hit-and-run accident in Jaipur, which claimed the life of a 14-year-old girl. The incident has sparked outrage among many, and the actress took to her Instagram story to express her anger and concern over the incident.

The incident occurred on Monday night when a woman named Sanskriti from Nagpur, reportedly intoxicated, was driving recklessly and rammed into a bike carrying three people. The crash resulted in the death of Aasima, the 14-year-old girl riding the bike, while her father, Isamuddin, and her cousin suffered serious injuries and are currently receiving medical care.

Janhvi Kapoor, known for her outspoken views on social issues, was visibly angered by the careless nature of the crime. She shared her thoughts on Instagram, writing, “What enables such reckless behaviour? What makes anyone think it's okay to drive under the influence of alcohol and endanger themselves and people around them? The casual nature of this crime is baffling. The amount of deaths and injuries due to drinking and driving even more so. Why aren't we more respectful and aware about the AGAINST THE LAW?” (sic). Her words reflect the frustration felt by many when it comes to the ongoing problem of drunk driving in India.

After the accident, police quickly took action and managed to catch Sanskriti, the driver responsible for Aasima's death. In a disturbing video, Sanskriti could be seen pleading, but a crowd gathered outside the police station demanding justice for the victim. The angry public voiced their desire for swift action against the accused.

The police have given further details about the incident, stating, “The deceased was returning home with her father, Islamuddin, and her 6-year-old sister on a bike. While going near Sanganeri Gate at around 12.20 at night, a speeding car hit their bike from behind. The collision was so strong that all three, including the bike, bounced off on the road.” This horrific event left many in the community shocked and heartbroken.
