Janhvi Kapoor revives YSL’s classic 80s elegance with historic pieces at Cannes 2025

Janhvi Kapoor has once again drawn attention with her fashion choices at the 78th Cannes Film Festival. The actress made a striking appearance at the AmfAR Gala, where she wore an all-black outfit that stood out for its blend of vintage and modern styles.

Janhvi’s look featured a velvet jacket from Yves Saint Laurent’s 1989 collection, paired with a custom-made silk chiffon skirt by renowned designer Anamika Khanna. The skirt took inspiration from YSL’s poetic era between 1987 and 1991. Adding to the ensemble was a sculptural saucer hat from YSL Rive Gauche, dating back to 1987, which lent the outfit a distinct vintage flair. She completed her look with black stockings and matching high heels, creating a carefully balanced silhouette that caught the eye on the red carpet.

This is not Janhvi’s first time wearing archival YSL pieces at Cannes. Earlier, she was seen in a black backless gown from the brand’s 1975 Rive Gauche collection. That ensemble featured a halter neckline and sleeveless design, offering a fresh take on a classic look.
