'I'm scared to work with new production houses' - Reena Kapoor

Reena Kapoor has been the face of Sahara One and Rajshri Productions' long running show Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki from the time of its inception. The lady has had a smooth journey being part of three generations, and is now gearing up for a new beginning in the show.

Here is Reena Kapoor in a frank conversation with TellyBuzz, as she talks of the love and adulation she has got from the production house, her aspirations for future and much more..

Your serial Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki recently completed 1200 episodes; how does it feel to be associated with it since its inception?
The experience of being associated with such an amazing production house, that too for such a long time is simply overwhelming.

It is also one of the longest running fiction serials on TV, so how do you look at it?
I thank God for this and feel it's an achievement. In an era where serials go off air in less than a year's time, we are doing very well even after years. And the entire unit is so much like one big family; even today I feel as new and as fresh, in the same way I did feel on the first day of my shoot.

During this tenure of 5 years you have worked with so many co-stars, yet your chemistry with Aamir Ali has been most appreciated till date. What's your take on it?
Yes I agree that on screen my chemistry with Aamir has received a lot of appreciation. I have enjoyed working with all my co-stars, but I feel I shared great level of comfort and spontaneity with Karan Grover.

How has your experience been working with Rajshri Productions?
It has been and will be one of my best experiences. I have been working with them for quite a long time now, and can confidently comment that they truly believe and work on the family values and principles that they portray on screen.  I feel extremely lucky to have got an opportunity to work with such a production house for so long and now they have completely spoilt me with all their love (smiles).

Now that the serial is coming to the original plot of Rani getting into the Mahal, what's your take on it?
Our Producer Kavita Barjatya has two more serials on air apart from Woh Rehne Waali, but she has always given equal importance to creativity in all three shows. She has always tried to maintain the fresh and young feel on the sets, and that has kept all of us going.

This is the 6th time that you'll be getting married in the serial, so what have you to say on it?
Actually it's very funny (laughs). I have told my creative that if at all they plan to get me married once again in future, I'll recite the mantra's myself (jokingly smiles). But jokes apart, I am actually getting married for the sixth time in a period of three generations. So all I can say is that, this is what the plot demanded.

People have formed a set image of you with your character Rani. So in future would you like to break that by portraying some different character?
I would love to do something different but not negative in any way. I would like to portray the character of a modern thinker who is peppy, chirpy and young. Though I'm apprehensive about such characters, I would still wish to give it a try.

You haven't taken up any full-fledged project since the inception of this serial, why so?
In between for 3-4 months, I was on a break and I had taken up a reality show and also an episodic. Frankly speaking, I couldn't find the same comfort as working with Rajshri. I'm a bit scared working outside with new production houses because I feel, off-screen rapport is very important.

What different character would you like to portray in future?
I would like to portray some handicapped character, either a mentally or physically challenged girl, like the one of Sridevi in Sadma or Rani Mukherjee in Black.

Which according to you has been the best phase of Woh Rehne Waali?
This is a very difficult question to answer, as every phase had something different to portray and offer to the audience. But the phase with Karan Grover was very enlightening.

We have also heard that you are more attached towards spiritualism, how's that?
Actually we have a Guru Maharaj in whom my family believes a lot, and my life revolves around him. And through his preachings, I have realized that there is more to life than just earning money and simply surviving.

How is Reena Kapoor as a person?
I'm an introvert basically; I love listening to Bhajans, read religious books, watch mythological serials. My husband and I have have similar likings, so I lead a married life with no compromises whatsover (smiles).

What are you passionate about apart from acting?
My God is my passion. I love traveling and don't like shopping.
