Bangalore, Sep 15 (IANS) South Indian actress Shirin, who had moved to Mumbai to try her luck at modelling and in Bollywood, has decided to come back and work in Kannada films and has quite a few projects in hand.

'I am happy to be back in Kannada films. I hope to take up a few more projects in Kannada and am discussing some exciting projects with a few producers. I recently signed a six-film package agreement with SPR Productions Ltd, which had made Kannada film 'Galipata' early this year,' Shirin told IANS.

She added that SPR is set to make six films in different south Indian languages.

The actress, who had earlier worked in films like 'Dhruva' and 'Bhoopathy', has signed on two other Kannada films and three Tamil films as well.

Shirin has completed shooting for director Lekhan's 'Sihi Gali', in which she is paired with young actor Sree Murali. She also plays one of the two heroines in a new film titled 'Yogi'.

Shirin started her film career as a teenager in a film called 'Police Dog'.

'It was a brief role and I had worked for six days. I don't remember anything now about this film though and I haven't seen it either,' said Shirin, who went into modelling during her college days.

After a stint in modelling, Shirin got her first break in Tamil film 'Thulluvadho Ilamai' in which she acted with top actor Dhanush.

Though she did an item number in Tamil film 'Bheema', which had Vikram and Thrisha in the lead roles, Shirin said she would now focus on better roles. Three Tamil movies in which she plays the lead actress are yet to be released. They are 'Poova Thalaiva', 'Vil' and 'Cash'.

'I am now concentrating only on lead roles. I did work in an item song in 'Bheema', but that was because the offer was too tempting to reject. But now I regret doing it. In the future, I don't think I will take up any more item numbers,' Shirin said.

The actress has often made news for link-ups with many actors and directors. Does that bother her?

'Many a time I have wondered why baseless gossip is circulated in the media about me ... The gossip surrounding me and baseless reports pained me, but then I thought this was part of my profession. I have now changed my mindset. I now know how to cope with such negative writings about me,' she quipped.
