I wanted someone special to play it: Anurag Kashyap pens heartfelt note for Vicky Kaushal
Anurag Kashyap took to his social media account and wrote an appreciation note for Vicky Kaushal.
Recently, it was revealed that Vicky Kaushal plays the lead DJ in influential Indian director Anurag Kashyap's "Almost Love" (also known as "Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat"). The movie had its Asian premiere at the Hainan Island International Film Festival and its world premiere at the Marrakech Film Festival in 2022. It is an India-U.K. co-production that is set in both nations and follows two love stories in alternate universes that struggle with issues of inequality, casteism, and social status.
Well Anurag Kashyap took to his social media account and penned the most adorable note for Vicky. Sharing some unseen pictures with the Raazi star Anurag wrote,
"Talking about the special role of Vicky Kaushal in the film, Anurag Kashyap said, "The character of DJ Mohabbat is so integral to the story, that I wanted someone special to play it. DJ Mohabbat is the voice of love, and is the conduit between two stories and I wanted someone who is that. Someone everyone loves because they trust and believe him. Vicky is that to me since l've known him. Always speaks his heart, never forgets, is grateful to his audience and people and the characters he plays. When lasked 'if not SRK then who?'. My whole cast and my daughter and her friends in unison said Vicky Kaushal."
While Vicky was quick enough to repost it on his gram as he thanked him saying, "Sir" with a heart and joined hands emoji.
Talking about the film, despite its festival outings, Kaushal’s star presence in the film has been a closely guarded secret so far. The two storylines in the film are interconnected by a podcast called Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat. The DJ talks about the need for love in times of hate.
“Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat,” produced by Good Bad Films, will be released theatrically by Zee Studios on Feb. 3.
