'I want to make a mark for myself in the industry' - Amit Paul

Amit Paul has the ability to make one forget the rest of the world with his melodious voice. Being a runner-up in Indian Idol 3 brought him not only immense popularity but a huge fan following too. The singer recently performed on Sony’s K for Kishore’s celebrity special singing Chookar Mere Mann Ko.. We caught up with Amit soon after his performance on the sets of K for Kishore..
Speaking about his experience on Indian Idol and the popularity he has gained from the show, Amit says, “It was an overwhelming experience for me. I am very grateful that I got such an amazing opportunity because playback singing has been a longtime dream for me and Indian Idol was a great platform in fulfilling it. And I thank God for giving me so many fans.” So how is his relation with his counterpart and Indian Idol 3 winner Prashant Tamang? “Oh, we are good friends”, replies Amit, “In fact we have even stayed together and had a blast.”

So what future plans does Amit have in store? “I am working on my album right now”, replies a smiling Amit, “And I have got quite a few offers for playback singing. In fact I have sung songs for some regional films and my concerts are also keeping me quite busy for now, and I am getting a few offers for endorsements too.” It sure does look like the young singer is keeping himself busy. But will his fame and glory last for long as it is always seen after such reality shows, the singers fade away into oblivion? Amit laughs and says, “I know that happens a lot, but I definitely want to make a name for myself in this industry and I will pray to God to help me achieve that.” And any plans of moving to Bollywood? “Yes, but only to become a playback singer”, grins Amit.
