I want people to know that I can pull off different characters convincingly: Nandish Sandhu of 'Undekhi 2'

Actor Nandish Singh Sandhu has an impressive resume of work. While he was a popular face on television for more than 5 years, he gradually shifted his focus towards films. He played Hrithik Roshan's brother in Super 30, followed by another film named Family of Thakurganj.

However, come 2020 and everything came to a standstill for the industry because of the pandemic. Nandish returned to the screens, albeit, in the digital space with Sony LIV's web-series Undekhi 2.

Ask Nandish if one should consider Undekhi 2 as his comeback, he says, "I would not call this a comeback because blame it on the pandemic. I don't think anyone in the industry considered the pandemic as a break because nobody wanted it. You can, however, call Undekhi 2 as my digital debut."

Nandish has been receiving applause for his stint in the web-series. He adds, "I couldn't have asked for a better digital debut than Undekhi 2. Samarth is good, is bad, is calculative, is smart, is cunning, is powerful and most importantly unpredictable. There was so much for me to enact and emote while playing this character. While I have done positive roles previously, with Samarth, I got to explore so much more as an actor and also step out of my comfort zone."

I believe that the audience is not like before. They don't want to see the same thing over and over again. They want change. I am glad that Undekhi 2 was well liked by the viewers. They liked the fact that I broke my monotony of playing goody goody characters. I want producers, directors, casting people and writers to see me as an artist who can pull off anything.

The character of Samarth is grey. He is the ‘Good Bad Guy’. Samarth is a very crucial part of the web-series. He has been credited for adding plot-twists and turns and plays a very important role in taking the story forward to the next season. Ask him if he is worried, he will be offered similar roles after this project, Nandish believes that it was a risk worth taking. "Risks and rewards are proportionate. If you don't take risks, you will never know what you are capable of and you'll never grow. Calculated risks are important to take. That is my mantra. I wouldn't grow if I am repetitive. I did positive roles for most part of my career and when Samarth was offered to me, I felt it was high time I took the risk and took the leap of faith. Plus, this story is not a stand-off between Good and Bad. It’s survival of the fittest in the Jungle so I am not the only bad guy here." the actor explained.

Well, from the reviews, we'll say it has paid off. And Nandish is no longer afraid of taking risks. He says, "I believe that the audience is not like before. They don't want to see the same thing over and over again. They want change. I am glad that Undekhi 2 was well liked by the viewers.
