I don't want to be furniture in a show; want to play strong characters: Channa Mereya actor Kanwalpreet Singh

In this entertainment industry, the kind of roles an actor chooses to do can change his or her career. This industry is all about the choices you make in choosing roles and stories. Actor Kanwalpreet Singh, who is a popular name in the acting world, says that he wants to choose strong roles for himself and doesn't want to play weak characters anymore.

Kanwalpreet Singh is popularly known for his performance in the TV show 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. He was last seen in the show Channa Mereya in Star Bharat, essaying the role of 'Goldy'.

Talking about the kind of roles he wants to play, Kanwalpreet says, "Earlier, I didn't have much of a choice when it came to the roles and some of my decisions turned out to be wrong. I believe that in order to sustain in the industry, you have to do strong roles that stand out. So, I don't want to be a furniture in the show, 'jo sirf rakhne ke liye hota hai.' Now, I want to choose strong characters for myself. 'Muje vo characters nahi karne, jinke ek show me hone ya na hone se koi farak nahi padhta.' Now, I will consciously choose the kind of roles I want to play."

Further elaborating more, Kanwalpreet says, "Right now, since it's my growing phase, I have no set criteria or parameters, but one thing is for sure that I want to look for characters that are interesting and have substance and are not just frivolous. What matters to me is how much people enjoyed watching me perform and how my character stayed in their minds. The audience has changed so much they are ready to accept an actor with different avatars, characters."

Lastly, talking about the challenges he'll have to face while choosing strong roles, Kanwalpreet says, "It is obviously challenging to choose roles that make me a better actor, but I will have to do it. I think, nowadays, every actor has an array of choices, they can choose the characters they want to play. Now, I want to explore genres and discover what suits me and what brings out the best in me."
