Actor Srikant Dwivedi, who recently played the lead character in the show Lakshmi Narayan and currently plays the role of Lord Vishnu in the mythological show Shiv Shakti-Tap Tyag Tandav, says that he has never been fond of calling himself a celebrity. The actor adds that he is inspired by the love for his craft, rather than the fame that comes with it.
“Honestly speaking, the word celebrity doesn’t give me any special excitement or thrill. Even today, when people call me a celebrity, I feel a bit awkward. I don’t know how to respond to that. The word never inspired me what truly inspires me is the work, the art, and the creativity behind it,” he says.
Being a celebrity comes with a lot of responsibility, says the actor, adding, “Celebrities have fans who look up to them and start following what they say or do. So, it becomes important to be mindful of our words and actions. We must behave like responsible citizens because fans often see their idols as role models. The things we say, the way we act all of it influences others. That’s why celebrities should aim to do things that are good for society and the country as a whole.”

He adds, “As an actor, one thing I make sure never to do in public is to get into any kind of verbal or physical argument. I avoid saying or doing anything that could hurt people’s sentiments. Nowadays, I see a negative trend people calling each other out, challenging others to fights, using abusive language. It’s really disappointing. What’s worse is that such behavior is getting them attention and popularity. I find it shocking. This is not what India or our culture stands for.”
Talking about the privileges that a celebrity gets, he says, “Being a celebrity or creator does bring a lot of privileges. And I think it’s fine to enjoy those, as long as they don’t create problems or inconvenience for the general public. If those privileges start causing trouble for others, then it’s not right. Of course, celebrities are human too. If someone is very famous and there’s a safety concern, it’s understandable that they need some protection or special treatment. But for those who are not facing such issues, there’s no need to demand extra privileges. The key is to make sure these benefits don’t disturb everyday people.”
