After essaying a power packed role of Rudra on Life Ok's Mahakumbh, the good looking and popular actor Gautam Rode is back with a bang in a new role with Sony TV's ongoing Mythological series Suryaputra Karn. He will soon be essaying the role of grown up Karn on the show.
In a conversation with TellyBuzz, Gautam shares more with us about taking up Suryaputra Karn, his preparations for the show and much more.
Why did you opt for the show?
I believe in playing varied characters and not repeating myself. Karn is a completely different character from anything I have played in the past. It's also a finite series and I really like the concept of finite shows as you know what you are getting into. Mahakumbh too had been a finite series and hence Karn too seemed interesting to me as I knew what I was getting into.
What kind of preparations you have done to be a part of the show?
There really was no time to prepare as I was shooting two days after I had signed the dotted line and I believe that true learnings happen on the sets while you are performing.
Do you feel that you might get typecast in doing mythological shows after this show?
I have done everything from romantic shows to drama and action, hence there is no fear of being typecasted at all.
Any challenges you are coming across?
Its difficult because of the grand costumes as well as the language is different than what we speak in real life. Learning new craft!
How has been the response from the promos?
Its been great and I am thankful to my admirers for all their support and love.
What kind of difference you feel between doing a daily soap and a mythological series?
It is different as a mythological show doesn't have fictional characters. These are characters we have read about in our religious books and stories we have heard growing up. Hence, there is a certain responsibility that comes with playing a mythological character. The character's attitude has to be true to people's belief and one can only take so much creative liberty.
How do you feel when you looking back to your journey?
It feels great as its been a wonderful journey with ups and downs but one thing that has remained constant or more so grown is the love and support from admirers.
There have been reports in the media that you might do an International series. How true is that?
The show has been postponed and hence I would rather talk about it when things are more concrete.
What are your expectations from the show Suryaputra Karn?
I am hoping that our
audience enjoys watching me as Karn. I want to entertain them and am
hoping to get a lot of support and love from our viewers.
