Housefull 5: Sajid Nadiadwala splurges big bucks on Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandez's comedy

Akshay Kumar and Sajid Nadiadwala have done close to ten movies together. The Housefull franchise is the most successful collaboration of the duo. Fans are awaiting the release of Housefull 5 this week. The songs have got a good response from the public especially Laal Pari. The drama and comedy of Housefull 5 happens on an international cruise liner. They have shot there for almost 90 days. Moreover, huge sets were constructed in Mumbai.

As per a report in Pinkvilla, Housefull 5 is the costliest comedy movie in the history of Indian cinema. It has overtaken Housefull 4 and Golmaal Again. The budget of Housefull 5 is around Rs 225 crores. Housefull 4 had budget of Rs 142 cr while Golmaal Again was Rs 165 cr. The makers are spending above the Rs 200 crore for promotions and marketing. The film is directed by Tarun Mansukhani.

From a star-cast of 19 acclaimed actors to the logistical challenges of shooting at real locations with a massive ensemble – Housefull 5 was among the most difficult film to set up for Sajid Nadiadwala. He has made a lavish ‘Killer Comedy’ for the audience, without compromising on the costs.

Housefull 5 is also one of the costliest movies in the career of Akshay Kumar. Vashu Bhagnani’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan was hands on his most expensive film with a budget of Rs 350 crores. Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi was made at Rs 250 cr. Housefull 5 is filmed at lavish locations abroad. Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Chunky Panday are on board with Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa and Nargis Fakhri. In post pandemic times, it is risky to invest so much money in a commercial masala comedy like Housefull 5. NGE’s Sikandar did not fare as well as expected on Eid 2025.
