It’s hard to be an actor. To portray the life, emotional turmoil and journey of a character, who is so different from you, to showcase a journey you still haven’t experienced is really commendable. Many-a-times, it happens that actors get so involved in the characters that they are playing, they forget about reality. International superstar Priyanka Chopra experienced something similar during the shoot of The Sky Is Pink.

Directed by Shonali Bose and starring Farhan Akhtar, Priyanka Chopra, Zaira Wasim and Rohit Saraf in lead roles The Sky Is Pink was recently premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

In a recent interview with Mumbai Mirror, the director opened up about the making of the movie. She went on to reveal that there was a sad moment while shooting the movie when PeeCee couldn’t stop herself from crying uncontrollably.

Remembering that day of the shoot, Bose revealed that there was an emotional scene shot for the film. While the filmmaker didn’t point out which scene she recalled Priyanka breaking down in the scene and continued to weep long after she announced cut.

The director, whose last venture was Margarita with a Straw, told Mumbai Mirror, "Another emotional shoot was when she had to break down after a scene. After I called “cut”, I hugged her and she couldn’t stop crying. She kept whispering, “I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry. I know now what it means to lose a child. I am so sorry for Ishlu.” I continued holding her."

For the unversed, the name Ishlu mentioned in the above quote is director Shonali Bose’s late son Ishan, who passed away on 13th September 2013 in a freak accident, which involved an electric razor, at the age of 16.

The 54-year-old filmmaker also revealed that desi girl requested her to use Ishlu, a nickname Shonali used to call her son with, in a scene involving Rohit, who plays Priyanka’s son in the movie.

"Priyanka called Ishan “Ishlu” which is not a name Aditi calls her son by. Priyanka heard me calling my Ishan that when I spoke about him and asked me, “Can I call him Ishlu in this scene?” I just smiled from ear to ear," she said.

The Sky Is Pink follows the journey of Aditi and Niren who lose their daughter to pulmonary fibrosis. It is based on the real-life story of Aisha Chaudhary, who was a motivational speaker and an author of the book My Little Epiphanies, which was published a day before she passed away.

The movie is all set to release on 11th October, 2019.
