In a dramatic turn of events, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar is reportedly taking legal action against veteran actor Paresh Rawal for abruptly stepping away from Hera Pheri 3 after filming had already commenced. According to reports, Akshay's production company, Cape of Good Films, has sent a legal notice to Rawal demanding Rs 25 crores in damages for what they claim is unprofessional conduct.
The Hera Pheri franchise has long held a special place in the hearts of Indian cinema lovers. With Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal returning to their iconic roles, excitement had reached new heights earlier this year when the trio began shooting under the direction of Priyadarshan. The buzz around Hera Pheri 3 was enormous, with fans eagerly awaiting the next chapter of the cult comedy.
However, things took an unexpected turn when Paresh Rawal took to social media last week to announce that he would no longer be part of the project. As per reports, the reason behind Rawal’s exit wasn’t creative or financial. Interestingly, he was reportedly being paid more than triple his standard fee for this role. Despite this, insiders claim he walked out simply because he “did not feel like” continuing with the film.
As per reports, this sudden exit has not only caused major scheduling and financial setbacks but also left the production team scrambling to find a replacement. Akshay, who legally acquired the rights to the Hera Pheri franchise from original producer Feroz Nadiadwala, is said to be deeply disappointed by the situation, especially as he is now wearing the dual hats of actor and producer.
Fans of the franchise are also expressing their shock and dismay across social media, with many voicing concern about the fate of the film without the original cast intact. For Akshay Kumar, this marks the first time in his 35-year-long career that he has taken legal steps against a fellow actor from the industry.
With the future of Hera Pheri 3 now hanging in the balance, all eyes are on how this legal standoff unfolds and whether fans will ever see the beloved trio back on screen together again.
