'Gurdeep is proud that I made this decision' - Arjun Punj

Arjun Punj - whose staircase to success included superhit serials like Sanjeevani, Woh Rehne Wali Mahlon Ki and Saathi Re has quit the small screen! Ask him about the reason and he will say, "I am not denying that the small screen gave me the base on which I am standing today. I will always be grateful to the small screen for making me popular amongst my fans, but now I want to do something in the big screen. My earnest request to all my fans is to pray for my success in the big screen."

Arjun has almost completed the shooting of Kumar Mangat's '123', directed by Ashwini Dheer. The film also has Upen Patel, Tushaar Kapoor, Sameera Reddy and Esha Deol. "I am playing the son of Paresh Rawal in the film. My name is Sonu in the movie. The film has been shot mainly in Pondicherry and Goa and the last schedule is yet to be over," says the actor who won the hearts of many a teenager with his innocent, dimple-faced smile. 

Apart from 123, Arjun is also scheduled to start a new project in mid-January and is extremely positive about it.

According to Arjun, he always wanted to do something on big screen, but was not getting the right opportunity. "I was waiting for the right opportunity which came in the form of '123'."

How's beau and fellow-actor Gurdeep reacting to his decision? 

"She is very happy with my decision. If you think about it, every actor from the small screen wants to make it big in films. But they don't want to go for it because of the risk and uncertainty. I took the risk and Gurdeep is proud that I had the courage to take this decision," says Arjun.

How are his friends and fellow-actors reacting? 

"Frankly, I do not have too many friends in the industry. Their reaction will come only after the film is released!", confesses Arjun as he eagerly awaits the release of his film next summer.

Arjun has been so busy with his schedules that he hardly gets time to watch any shows. "I have missed even Gurdeep's shows. But I like the song-based reality shows," says Arjun. But what is it that is keeping him so busy, now that he is not shooting for any television serials and his movie schedule is almost over? "I am meeting people almost daily for my future projects and that is what is keeping me busy," says the actor. Recently Arjun and Gurdeep celebrated their first anniversary. "We went to Hong Kong to celebrate it," says the loving husband.
