All We Imagine As Light fails to secure the Best Foreign Language Film Award

India's groundbreaking film, All We Imagine As Light, did not receive applause as it lost in the Best Non-English Language Motion Picture category to France's Emilia Perez at the 82nd Golden Globe awards on Sunday night (Monday morning in India).

The award was presented at the Beverly Hills Hilton on Sunday during the Globes ceremony. All We Imagine As Light was anticipated as India's strong contender at this year's awards. Alongside Emilia Perez, nominees in the Best Non-English Language Motion Picture category featured films like I'm Still Here from Brazil, The Girl With The Needle from Poland, Sweden, Denmark, The Seed of The Sacred Fig from Germany, France, Iran, and Vermiglio from Italy.

In the end, Emilia Perez, the film in Spanish, a musical crime comedy written and directed by Jacques Audiard, clinched the award. The director delivered a heartfelt speech in his mother tongue, Spanish.

Nevertheless, there remains optimism for All We Imagine As Light, as Payal Kapadia has also been nominated in the Best Director category, competing against Brady Corbet for The Brutalist, Coralie Fargeat for The Substance, Edward Berger for Conclave, Jacques Audiard for Emilia Pérez, and Sean Baker for Anora. The winner will be announced later tonight.

The 82nd Golden Globes commenced Sunday night at 8 p.m. EST (6.30 am IST), seeking to revive the lighthearted, comedic atmosphere of previous ceremonies led by renowned hosts like Ricky Gervais or the duo Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. This year, comedian Nikki Glaser is hosting the event. In India, viewers can tune in to the show on Lionsgate Play, where it has been streaming live since Monday morning at 6.30 am.
