Genelia talks about 8-hour work shift

Following the birth of her daughter Dua, actress Deepika Padukone's request for an 8-hour work shift has sparked a significant debate within the industry regarding the working conditions of actresses after they become mothers. Amidst the ongoing discussion sparked by Deepika Padukone's departure from Spirit, Genelia Deshmukh has shared her experiences balancing career and motherhood. In a recent interview with Zoom, Genelia acknowledged the challenges of long work hours as a mother but emphasized that it's manageable.

“It is tough but it is not impossible," she shared. “I do work for 10 hours a day and there are days when the director asks to extend it to 11 or 12 hours. I think it’s fair but we just need time to make those adjustments. When you have a day or two where you have to overdo, it’s also an understanding and a process that needs to be done."

Genelia D’Souza will soon be seen in the upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par. She will play Aamir Khan’s wife in the film. In a recent chat, she revealed how she received positive reactions from the film industry after the news of her casting broke out. However, she slammed Bollywood for not giving her opportunities after marriage. She also revealed that she auditioned for Aamir Khan’s film three times, and hoped that the right people would be cast for the right roles in the future.

Sitaare Zameen Par, a Hindi adaptation of the Spanish film Campeones, features Aamir Khan and Genelia D'Souza portraying characters in their early 40s. Aamir, who is 60, has addressed any age gap concerns, emphasizing how modern technology and evolving audience perceptions are reshaping cinematic norms around age differences in casting.

Deepika Padukone's recent departure from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit has drawn considerable media attention and speculation. Reports indicate that she sought an 8-hour workday, substantial compensation, and profit-sharing, which reportedly did not align with the filmmaker's vision. Although Deepika has not directly commented on the exit, her recent social media posts about remaining true to herself suggest her focus as a new mother.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga responded on X with a cryptic post, accusing an unnamed actor of breaking trust and playing games. “#dirtyPRgames." Without naming Deepika, he suggested someone had put down a younger actor while allegedly leaking story details. His statement read: “You didn’t get it. You won’t get it. You will never get it."
