The political thriller Game Changer, starring Ram Charan, Kiara Advani, and SJ Suryah, has managed to pull decent numbers at the box office since its release. Directed by Shankar, the film opened to strong domestic collections and was touted as a promising addition to the slate of high-grossing South Indian films. However, the movie has now become a subject of heated discussion, with filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma questioning the authenticity of its reported box office earnings.
https://x.com/RGVzoomin/status/1878832567660761425The producers of Game Changer claimed that the film earned an impressive Rs 186 crore worldwide on its first day, positioning it among the top openings for Indian films, just behind blockbusters like Pushpa 2, Baahubali 2, and RRR. However, trade analysts have reported a significantly lower figure, suggesting that the film's actual opening-day earnings were closer to Rs 80–100 crore.
Taking to social media, Ram Gopal Varma launched a scathing critique of the inflated figures. He sarcastically praised previous South Indian hits such as Baahubali, RRR, and KGF 2 for their authentic achievements, stating that the exaggerated claims surrounding Game Changer undermine these films' genuine success. He further criticized the film’s alleged Rs 450 crore budget, comparing it unfavorably with the visually grand RRR, which he argued should have cost ten times more if the numbers were to be believed.

He clarified that he does not believe producer Dil Raju is responsible for the alleged discrepancies, attributing them instead to unknown parties. Varma argued that while Game Changer has had a solid box office run, the inflated figures bring unnecessary scrutiny and doubt to the accomplishments of other South Indian films.
Despite these controversies, Game Changer continues to perform steadily at the box office. However, the backlash over its reported earnings and budget has added an unexpected layer of drama to the film’s reception, sparking debate about transparency and credibility in box office reporting.
