'Gadar 2' star Ameesha Patel surrenders in cheque bounce case; granted bail

In the midst of promoting her highly anticipated film Gadar 2, Ameesha Patel made a court appearance in Ranchi in connection with a cheque bounce case from 2018. Following her surrender, the Ranchi Civil Court granted her conditional bail, as reported by ANI. Ameesha has been instructed to physically appear before the court on June 21. 

According to ANI, the cheque bounce case originated when Ameesha attended a program at Harmu Ground in Ranchi in 2018 and discussed film financing with businessman Ajay Kumar Singh, who owns Lovely World Entertainment. Singh invested in the project, but since the film never saw the light of day, he demanded the return of his ₹2.50 crore investment. Ameesha attempted to reimburse him with a cheque, but unfortunately, it bounced.

This is not the first time Ameesha has faced a cheque bounce controversy. In November 2021, she made headlines for a similar incident involving a bounced cheque of ₹32.25 lakh to UTF Telefilms. Despite these legal setbacks, Ameesha remains resilient and undeterred. Recently celebrating her 47th birthday on June 9, she shared a video of her birthday celebration, where she cut a cake surrounded by well-wishers. Expressing gratitude, she thanked everyone for their belated birthday celebrations and the efforts made to make the occasion special.

Currently, she is gearing up for her silver screen comeback alongside Sunny Deol in Gadar 2, set to release on August 11. The film continues the story from the original Gadar, with Sunny portraying Tara Singh and Ameesha reprising her role as his love interest, Sakina.

Adding to the buzz surrounding Gadar, the digital premiere of the original film, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, in 4K with Dolby Atmos was announced on Saturday. Directed by Anil Sharma, the epic tale of love, patriotism, courage, and hardships stars Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, Utkarsh Sharma, and the late Amrish Puri. Ameesha took to Instagram to share the film's poster, announcing its availability for rent exclusively on ZEE5 in its newly remastered version.

As Ameesha Patel navigates the legal proceedings while eagerly awaiting the release of Gadar 2, fans are anticipating her triumphant return to the big screen alongside Sunny Deol, reliving the magic of their on-screen chemistry from the original blockbuster.
