Freaky Friday to Get Desi-fied!

No matter if this Hollywood version never made it to your list of must watches -the newer version of it...

Disney movie buffs will very much be familiar with Freaky Friday, the 2003 movie starring Jamie Lee Curtis and the then teenage rave, Lindsay Lohan, as a mother and daughter respectively, who wake up one Friday in each others' bodies. Freaky yeh? Hence the title!

No matter if this Hollywood version never made it to your list of must watches -the newer version of it shall, we guarantee - cause yes, Bollywood is all set for yet another English movie remake! Veteran actor Anil Kapoor during his LA visit for the American TV series 24 is known to have made deals for the remake rights to the movie, and will be producing it under his banner.

The lucky girl to step in Lohan's shoes and enact the character Anna, shall be none other than daughter Sonam, who is heard to have made the suggestion to Papa Anil in the first place. There have been bidders and preferences as to who shall play Jamie's role, that of Tess Coleman, the mother. Anil was rumoured to have contacted Kirron Kher for the the same, but she turned it down citing date problems. (We here at BC however feel inclined to pin this turn down to the rocky relations between the Khers and the Kapoors).

Whatever be the case, Kirron it is not to be. Other contenders for the role include Rekha and Shabana Azmi. The film will be directed by Priyadarshan, and filming is slated to begin by the end of the year, if all paperwork obliges to fall into place.

Meanwhile - care to join us in thinking of desi titles for Freaky Friday?! Something on the lines of, say, Shukrawar ka Rahasay ... !
