Emraan Hashmi is truly like Amitabh Bachchan: Rumy Jafry

'Chehre' is one of the most anticipated films of 2021. Apart from nuanced plot and excellent storyline, the film also hosts some of the most talented actors from Bollywood. The film stars Emraan Hashmi who is pitted against Amitabh Bachchan, as this is known to be their first outing together.

The repeated delays in the release of Rumy Jafry's directorial 'Chehre' have hardly impacted the excitement amongst fans. Considering the film's trailer, the two are set to entertain viewers when Chehre releases in theatres on August 27. Ahead of release, director Rumy Jafry spoke about his film and actors Amitabh and Emraan.

In a recent interaction with Times of India, Rumy mentioned how the casting for the main leads happened and chalked out the comparisons between Amitabh and Emraan on a professional front.

He said, "After we finalised Amitabh Bachchan for Chehre, we started looking for other actors. I was looking for the second lead and Emraan fit right into the character I had envisioned. Even though I had never worked with him before, I had heard a lot about him in the industry. He is truly like Amit ji when it comes to professionalism--dedicated, hardworking and allows nothing to interfere with his work. He is very involved in the work he does. I wanted somebody just like him. When I approached him with Chehre, he, too, loved his character and was happy to come on board. Emraan’s work has turned out to be even better than I expected."

In Chehre, Emraan plays a man who lands on the doorstep of Amitabh Bachchan's character on a particularly story night. Amitabh plays a man with a fascination for murder mysteries. Him and his friends trap Emraan's character at the house. This is the first time Emraan has teamed up with Amitabh.

Director Rumy Jafry also pointed out how Big B motivated him to try something new if that was what he wanted to do.

The director's acquaintance with Amitabh Bachchan goes long back and they have collaborated on films like God Tussi Great Ho and others like Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.
