Director's Note Samir Karnik

On returning from the United States after completing his Bachelors' in International Relations and Political Science, Samir Karnik joined filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra as an assistant during the production of 'Kareeb'. In 1998, he left for Tanzania where he made several documentary films about the region. Later, he worked with the CNN affiliate in Dar-E-Salaam. He also directed various ad films for the African region.

In 2002, Samir Karnik started his own production house known as Top Angle Productions in an endeavor to create quality cinema in the future. 'Kyun! Ho Gaya Na' his directorial venture featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Vivek Oberoi and Aishwarya Rai, was released worldwide in 2004.

In 2006, the maker followed it up with the critically acclaimed, 'Nanhe Jaisalmer' starring Bobby Deol and introducing child prodigy Dwij Yadav.

In 2007, Samir Karnik joined hands with Vikas Kapoor and formed a company Future Picture Company. This presents his most ambitious project till date 'Heroes' featuring Sunny Deol, Salman Khan, Bobby Deol, Preity Zinta, Sohail Khan, Vatsal Seth, Dino Morea and Mithun Chakraborty among others. It is expected to release in October 2008.

The following year, Samir joined hands with Vikas Kapoor and formed a company -- Future Picture Company. It presents its most ambitious project 'Heroes' featuring Sunny Deol, Salman Khan, Bobby Deol, Preity Zinta, Sohail Khan, Vatsal Sheth, Dino Morea and Mithun Chakraborty amongst others. The film is slated for release on October 24, 2008.

'Roshan', a second in the series of 'Nanhe Jaisalmer' brings back Bobby Deol and Dwij Yadav, accompanied by Kangana Ranaut. Co-produced and directed by Samir, it is expected to hit the cinemas in November.

He is currently working on two films being produced by Future Picture Company. In addition, Samir is doing a film for the reputed Vijeyta Films.
