The biggest war film in Indian cinema, Border 2, saw Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta unite in 2024. Following this, the makers revealed the star-studded cast, including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. Filming commenced in November 2024 and has been progressing rapidly since. According to Pinkvilla, Diljit Dosanjh is scheduled to begin filming for this Anurag Singh directorial from June 10.
A source shares, “Diljit Dosanjh plays a very interesting part in Border, bringing in the heart to the tale of the 1971 war between India and Pakistan. He begins his journey on Border 2 from June 10, and will be shooting for the sequences with Sunny Deol in the first leg.” The actor will also be filming with Varun Dhawan in the second part of his role, starting in July.
A source mentioned that Diljit has strong scenes with Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty, and his character has a compelling backstory. Anurag Singh aims to complete Border 2 by August 10. The source added that while Sunny Deol plans to finish most of his scenes by the end of June, Diljit Dosanjh and Varun Dhawan will wrap up their parts in August 2025.
Earlier, ETimes report stated that Border 2 will include the iconic scene from the 1997 film. A source close to the production revealed, "It's a homage to the original," and added, "The team wanted to bring back that larger-than-life, goosebump-inducing moment for the sequel, and Sunny sir was completely on board with the idea."
