Dil Bechara: An Ode to Sushant Singh Rajput and A Heartwarming Memory For All Of Us

The movie begins with these lines and seldom do words weave the perfect meaning for the emotions one feels. Dil Bechara is and always will remain special, for a lot of reasons. The movie is beyond romance and drama, but a window to life’s reality, the ups and the downs; the highs and the lows; life and death. 

Throughout the duration of 100 minutes, Sushant as Immanuel Rajkumar Jr. aka "Manny" will keep making you fall in love with life, with smiles that stretch ear to ear. A convivial fighter, preaching the meaning of life and never wanting to miss a moment without sharing happiness. And that’s exactly how I remember Sushant.

It will be beyond measure to talk about his performance, but all I can say is that it’s his best. Right from Manny’s over the line obsession with Bollywood to his never-ending desire to fulfil dreams (not his, his loved ones’) is what makes Dil Bechara a heartwarming gift for all of us. The movie shall forever be etched in our hearts to commemorate our loving SSR.

There are not one, but several scenes and dialogues from the film that holds a significant deeper meaning now. Manny left behind life lessons that will lighten up every dark corner with a beaming light as radiant as his smile. 

“Janam kab lena hai aur marna kab hai yeh hum decide nehi kar sakte, lekin kaise jeena hai woh toh hum decide kar sakte hai" says Manny as we all celebrate his last piece of work today. 

Sushant carried all the shades of Manny with such honesty, and it’s beautiful how not for once, you will feel sorry for him. You will laugh and smile and cry every time he battles through life and death on screen, sending waves of realisation that the present looks too similar with a void that can only be filled with his memories.
