Dharmendra’s Surprising Comment on Sunny and Bobby Deol’s Equation with Heroines, Says Gadar 2 Director

Anil Sharma, the director of Gadar 2, recently shared a humorous anecdote involving veteran actor Dharmendra and his sons, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. In a conversation with Siddharth Kannan on his YouTube channel, Sharma recalled an incident from the sets of the 2007 film Apne, which starred Dharmendra alongside his sons.

Sharma revealed that Dharmendra, known for his jovial nature, teased Sunny and Bobby in his vanity van during a break in shooting. The veteran actor jokingly compared his experiences as a leading man to those of his sons. Sharma shared, “Dharam ji said, ‘Mere ladke bade seedhe hain. Inka yaar, kuch heroines ke sath chakkar hi nahi chalta kabhi. Mujhe dekho, mere time pe sab heroines peeche aati the.’”

According to Sharma, Sunny and Bobby were visibly embarrassed by their father’s playful admission and promptly left the room, leaving Dharmendra amused. The iconic actor then quipped that even if he had been "innocent," the camaraderie on set remained lighthearted and fun.

The director also acknowledged Dharmendra’s undeniable charm, noting that many actresses of his time were eager to work with him. However, he described Sunny and Bobby as more reserved and grounded, adding, “They are simple enough for the film industry.” Sharma highlighted how the Deols, despite their fame, value family above all else, a trait that reflects in their performances.

Anil Sharma, who has worked extensively with the Deol family, expressed his admiration for their close-knit bond. He hinted at future projects, including Apne 2 and Gadar 3, continuing his collaboration with Sunny Deol and the rest of the family.
