Deepika saw a mirror image of herself after meeting Lakshmi; Said “I felt I was looking at myself”

In a career span of twelve years, Deepika Padukone is known to pull off some of the most staggering characters. But, it seems she was totally moved by Laxmi Agarwal who is an acid attack survivor from Mumbai and she saw a mirror image of herself in Laxmi.

Recently the makers of Chhapaak launched the much-awaited trailer and the fans seem to be struck by the uncanny resemblance between Deepika and Laxmi. It features Deepika stepping into the shoes of Laxmi for the film and even the first look of the actress left everyone stunned. 

During the trailer launch, Deepika talked about the nervousness she felt during her first meeting with Laxmi and she also mentioned being in Malti’s makeup at that time. 

Further, Deepika spoke about Malti being her first character that isn’t fictional or dead and hence, she was very nervous. Although, her nervousness wore off as soon as Laxmi came on the sets and mentioned that she was happy to see Deepika play Malti.

I felt I was looking at myself. Lakshmi had come and She looked at me and felt she was looking at herself. She came on the first day to the set. I was extremely nervous. This was the first character I played which wasn't fictional or dead. There's no better validation for me when there's a person you're playing who's in front of you and says that they are happy looking at me.

At the trailer launch, Deepika also got extremely emotional and Meghna revealed that it is because she hadn’t seen the whole trailer before the event.
