Deepika Padukone shares her views on the current Biopic-trend

Deepika Padukone talks about the repetitive scripts and biopic-trend in the industry; read below...

The year 2018 is being regarded as the year of biopics. However, Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone who rocked the initial months of 2018 with 'Padmaavat', has a lot to say about the current biopic-trend which has been revolving around B-Town.

Deepika is slated as the female lead in Vishal Bharadwaj's untitled directorial. The actress recently visited Chennai for an event, where she was asked about the changing trends in Bollywood. However, the actress acknowledged that there is a certain sense of repetitiveness in the scripts that are being offered and that too, biopics.

During an interview with The Hindu, Deepika said, "I feel like there are too many biopics being made. In the last few months, I can't count the number of biopics that we've been offered. And they're all great; they're very strong and powerful. But when it comes to a film, after a point, how much are you going to tell me about those struggles? Even a common man on the street has had a similar journey if you ask me."

While films like 'Mogul', 'The Accidental Prime Minister' and 'Manto' are all set to hit the silver screens, Bollywood still has a whole platter of biopic genre yet to be served.

While the actress was asked about the women-centric films, she replied saying that, "I wouldn't say there is a dearth. I definitely feel like it's getting a little repetitive, though.

She added that a change has come about and roles are being written for women. "I think it has changed already. I don't think women in film today are in a place where they have to wait or look for a strong female part. It's all there. Now, it really boils down to the specific content: whether a particular film excites a particular actor or not."

As 2018 is about to conclude, Sanju has already broken the records. With three more biopics releasing, can either of them compete in the on-going trend? Share your views in the comment box below.
