Coolie may beat War 2 by these many crores at the box office in first four days, shares South trade expert

It is Rajinikanth Vs Hrithik Roshan – Jr NTR at the Indian box office this Independence Day. Perhaps, it is one of the biggest clashes of Bollywood and South Indian film industry. The advance booking for Coolie has started and it’s looking crazy. It has already made Rs three crores in Kerala, and is on a roll in Tamil Nadu. The advance booking of Coolie is supposed to be at Rs 50 crores (worldwide). Ramesh Bala, who tracks the South Indian box office closely told us that he felt that Coolie had a definite edge over War 2 in the first four days. He has also shared his reasons for the same.

According to me, Coolie will have an edge of Rs 50 – 75 crores over War 2 in the first four days. Of course, good word of mouth is the key. The advances are looking great for the Rajinikanth movie. The tickets are sold out from Thursday to Sunday in some of the cities.

Why Coolie has upper hand over War 2?

War 2 is getting all the IMAX screens in India. However, it’s impact on box office numbers is not going to be huge as India only has little more than 20 IMAX screens in the country. Jr NTR has his market in the Telugu speaking states and a bit in Tamil Nadu. In comparison, Rajinikanth has good fan following in all South Indian states. “The makers have brought in Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Sathyaraj and Aamir Khan for that Pan-India reach. Also, it is a Lokesh Kanagaraj movie. He has his own fan base. Anirudh Ravichander’s music score has also done its good,” said Bala.

First Three Days – A litmus test for both films

Coolie has the capacity to pull people from different states while War 2 will dominate where Hindi movies rule. It is a 60:40 ratio for Coolie and War 2. He also emphasized that Coolie was well promoted in comparison to War 2. The audio launch event in Chennai was quite an affair. Nagarjuna promoted it in Hyderabad while there is an upcoming event on August 11, 2025 in Mumbai.

“I would say Coolie’s buzz is better and will surely dominate over War 2 on the opening day. War 2comes with its own merits – it is a franchise film, and people who want an Indian version of Mission Impossible will surely favour that movie," Ramesh Bala stated.

Coolie is produced by Kalanithi Maran. It is supposed to be best Rajinikanth movie after Kabali.
