Confirmed: Tom Hardy’s Venom sequel to be officially directed by Andy Serkis!

Filmmaker-actor Andy Serkis confirms directing Tom Hardy’s anti-hero movie, Venom’s sequel!

Actor-director Andy Serkis is all set to direct the anti-hero movie, Venom’s sequel. It will be a sequel to the 2018 film that grossed $856 million at the global box office. The movie will once again showcase actor Tom Hardy as Eddie, a journalist who investigates experiments of human trials, who gets merged with a symbiotic alien with lethal abilities. 

It was The Hollywood Reporter that confirmed the news of Serkis being on-board with the project. According to their reports, the 55-year-old actor was he was in talks with Sony executives for the role for weeks. 

Soon after the news broke out, the filmmaker, who has also directed the 2017 drama Breathe and last year's non-Disney take on the Rudyard Kipling stories, Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle, took to his official social media handle and shared the good news with his fans.

He wrote, "It's actually happening. I can feel it, the symbiote has found a host in me, and I'm ready for the ride... Can't wait! Are you ready @tomhardy? #venom #venom2 #marvel"

Serkis will direct the film from Kelly Marcel's script. Ruben Fleischer helmed the first part, which also featured Michelle Williams and a last-minute cameo by Woody Harrelson as villain Cletus Kasady/ Carnage. The filmmaker rose to fame with his amazing work as Gollum in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy from 2002 to 2004. He played the villain Snoke in the recent Star Wars films, as well as bad guy Klaw in Marvel Studios' Black Panther.
