'Bulbbul' actor Parambrata Chattopadhyay and his wife Piya Chakraborty welcome baby boy

Actor-filmmaker Parambrata Chattopadhyay and his wife, social worker Piya Chakraborty, have become parents to a baby boy. The child was born in Kolkata at a private hospital on the culturally significant day of Jamai Shashti, a festival celebrated in Bengal.

As per a report by The Times of India, both the mother and newborn are healthy. The couple has not yet made a public announcement on social media, but sources close to the family have confirmed the news.

This milestone comes after Parambrata and Piya’s wedding in November 2023. Earlier this year, they had announced their pregnancy on Instagram, sharing a series of photos featuring their pets, Nina and Bagha, and revealing that their family was growing. In the caption, they mentioned being late to the Valentine’s Day celebration as they were busy preparing to welcome a new member to their tribe.

The announcement was warmly received. Ahead of the birth, Piya had mentioned in an interview with Anandabazar Online that the baby was expected in June. With Parambrata’s birthday falling on June 27, there was speculation among close circles if the father and son would end up sharing a birthday. “Who knows! The baby might not wait that long,” she had said back then.

Although the baby didn’t arrive on that specific date, the timing has still made the month of June special for the couple and their families.

Parambrata, who has built a strong presence in both Bengali and Hindi cinema with roles in films like Kahaani, Pari, and Bulbul, now steps into a new personal role—fatherhood. While fans await an official statement, many have already started extending their wishes online, marking this private joy with public celebration.

The family has chosen to keep things low-key for now, and it remains to be seen when the new parents will share glimpses of this chapter with the public.
