The excitement around Jailer 2 just doubled! Superstar Balakrishna Nandamuri has officially joined hands with Rajinikanth for the sequel of the 2023 blockbuster Jailer, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. Fans who missed seeing a Telugu star in the first film can now rejoice, because Balayya is all set to bring his mass energy to the big screen.
The first Jailer was a massive hit and had powerful cameos from legends like Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar. But many Telugu fans felt something was missing. The question they kept asking – "Where’s Balakrishna or Chiranjeevi?" – has now been answered. Director Nelson has made sure this time, Tollywood gets its due.
As per a report by Hindustan Times, a close source confirmed, “It is true that NBK has said yes to a powerful role in Jailer 2. He loved what Nelson pitched to him and looks forward to shooting for the film soon. He plays more of a guest role in the film than a cameo because he wanted something solid, and Nelson delivered. Fans are going to love it."

Are you excited for Jailer 2?
While Balakrishna’s character details are being kept secret, the talk is that it’s an action-packed and strong role – not just a blink-and-miss scene. Nelson seems to have specially written the character keeping Balayya’s style in mind.
Interestingly, back in 2023, Nelson had already hinted at this idea. Speaking with Cinema Vikatan, he had said, “Balakrishna sir was in my mind, but I could not design and fit his character into the script properly. That’s why I dropped it. I feel that in Jailer 2, if Balakrishna does the role I have in mind, it will be powerful. I will definitely approach him because I want him to play a deadly police officer."
Even Shiva Rajkumar, while promoting his Kannada film 45 in Hyderabad, shared his excitement. He said, “I don’t know if he is acting in the film. I know I am in it because Nelson has confirmed. If Balakrishna is there, it’s good because I’ve not worked with him, as in shared scenes with him. But we’re very close, more like family, and he calls my father Chikkappa (uncle)."
With Rajinikanth returning as the iconic Jailer, and now Balakrishna joining the force, this sequel promises high-octane action and strong emotions. Produced by Sun Pictures, Jailer 2 also stars Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa Menon and S. J. Suryah. Fans are ready for fireworks!
