Baby John Day 3 Box Office: Varun Dhawan's Action Thriller Sees Dip in Collections

Varun Dhawan's latest film Baby John opened with a bang on Christmas Day, raking in an impressive ?11.25 crore on its first day. Fans were hopeful for a blockbuster run, but the film's performance took a downward turn. By the third day, the collections had dropped significantly, leaving trade analysts and fans disappointed.

On its second day, the action thriller witnessed a massive 57.78% decline, earning only ?4.75 crore. The situation worsened on day three, with collections dropping to ?3.65 crore, bringing the total to ?19.65 crore (nett). According to Sacnilk, the film’s overall Hindi occupancy on Friday was just 9.62%. Despite being Varun’s biggest opening in five years, the movie struggled to maintain momentum amid tough competition from Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule.

Varun’s earlier films like Street Dancer 3D (2020), Jug Jugg Jeeyo (2022), and Bhediya (2022) failed to achieve double-digit opening figures. His 2019 release Kalank, which co-starred Alia Bhatt, Madhuri Dixit, and others, had a better start with ?21.60 crore on its opening day. However, Baby John failed to match expectations despite the promising start.

Directed by Kalees and produced by Atlee of Jawan fame, Baby John is an action-packed thriller featuring Varun as a cop living undercover to protect his daughter. The plot takes a dramatic turn when his past catches up, endangering his family. The film also stars Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, Jackie Shroff, and Rajpal Yadav, with Salman Khan making a special appearance.

The movie, a remake of Vijay’s Tamil hit Theri, opened to mixed reviews. While the storyline and performances received appreciation, it couldn't compete with the buzz around Pushpa 2. Fans hope the collections pick up in the coming days, but the slow start has cast doubts on its long-term success.
