Azaad Day 2 Box Office: Historical Drama Struggles as Collections Drop Further

Azaad, featuring newcomers Aman Devgan and Rasha Thadani, continued its struggle at the box office on Day 2. Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, the film added Rs 1.25 crore to its earnings, bringing the total to Rs 2.75 crore in two days. Released on January 17, the movie highlights a historic tale but failed to attract a substantial audience.

Despite its Cinema Lovers Day offer, where tickets were priced at ?99, Azaad couldn't capitalize on its opening day, which fetched Rs 1.50 crore. On the second day, the collections dropped further by Rs 25 lakh, showcasing the film's limited reach among moviegoers. In just two days, the film has garnered Rs 2.75 crore, with Rs 1.50 crore collected on Day 1 and Rs 1.25 crore on Day 2.

The film’s performance indicates a tough road ahead. With below-average reviews and a lack of strong word-of-mouth, Azaad's chances of sustaining through the weekdays seem slim. Moreover, the movie faces stiff competition from Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency, which, despite its own struggles, has managed to outpace Azaad in collections.

In Azaad, Aman Devgan portrays Govind, while Rasha Thadani plays Janaki. Ajay Devgn appears in an extended cameo as Vikram Singh, adding star power to the project. The ensemble cast also includes Diana Penty and Piyush Mishra, playing pivotal roles.

Directed by Abhishek Kapoor and backed by RSVP Movies, the film promised grandeur but couldn’t live up to expectations. Poor word-of-mouth and competition from Emergency have further impacted its performance.
