Asit Modi addresses Palak Sindhwani's claims against him

The sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been in the spotlight for various negative reasons in the past year. Producer Asit Kumarr Modi has been embroiled in controversies involving the show's actors. Recently, Palak Sindhwani's departure from the show led to startling accusations against the producer. Modi has now spoken out about the situation.

In an interview with ETimes, Asit Modi expressed that he views Palak Sindhwani as his own daughter. “It really hurt me when Palak left since I think of her like a daughter and have always cared for her,” shared the producer.

Further he said, “As far as the Palak incident is concerned, things are being dealt with legally. We have to maintain discipline on the sets. If you are already working with an organization, will you be allowed to take up other work as well? No, right? Similarly, we also have certain rules, as we need to shoot 26 episodes every month.”

Time and time again, various actors from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, like Shailesh Lodha and Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal, have accused the show's creators of not paying their dues, refusing to grant leave even for personal emergencies, and fostering a toxic work environment.

As per Asit Kumarr Modi, the producer of the show, he ensures all actors have personal time off as he values the importance of spending time with family. Modi clarified that whenever actors request a break, they are allowed to take leave but are expected to work extra hours prior to their time off. He also stated that no actor has ever raised concerns regarding payments.

The producer concluded by saying,“If the environment on our sets was truly hostile, no one would be able to work there for more than a year. When you spend 5–10 years on a show, becoming like family, getting to know each other’s families, and then make such statements afterwards, it doesn’t feel right or appropriate."
