Anushka Sharma mourns the loss of Friends actor James Michael Tyler

Actor James Michael Tyler, who played coffee shop manager Gunther on the hit sitcom ‘Friends’, passed away at the age of 59. 

He was battling prostate cancer that he was first diagnosed with in 2018.

On Monday morning, actress Anushka Sharma also took to Instagram to mourn the demise of James.

 She reposted a post that featured the demise news on her Instagram story. 

Along with the post, she put a broken heart emoji. It looks like the Sui Dhaaga actress is also a huge fan of ‘Friends’.

On Sunday evening, Kevin Bright had shared the news of his demise that left his fans heartbroken. 

His post read, 

“James Michael Tyler Our Gunther passed away last night. He was an incredible person who spent his final days helping others. God bless you James, Gunther lives forever.”

The representative of James said in a statement, 

“The world knew him as Gunther (the seventh 'Friend'), from the hit series Friends, but Michael's loved ones knew him as an actor, musician, cancer-awareness advocate, and loving husband. Michael loved live music, cheering on his Clemson Tigers and would often find himself in fun and unplanned adventures. If you met him once, you made a friend for life.”

James Michael Tyler revealed his diagnosis of stage IV prostate cancer in June this year. 

According to Tyler’s family member as quoted by news outlet TMZ,

"The world knew him as Gunther (the seventh “Friend”), from the hit series ‘Friends,’ but Michael’s loved ones knew him as an actor, musician, cancer-awareness advocate, and loving husband".

Earlier this year, the actor was unable to be a part of the Friends Reunion episode due to his diagnosis. Later, he appeared on the special via a Zoom call.
