Anurag Kashyap took to social media today, April 22, to address the controversy surrounding his recent remarks.

While replying to someone in anger, I forgot my limits and insulted the entire Brahmin community. A community whose many members have been a part of my life, who are still in my life today, and who have contributed significantly. Today, all of them are hurt by me. My family is hurt by me. Many intellectuals whom I deeply respect are hurt by my angry response and the way I spoke

He further continued, "By saying such a thing, I ended up diverting the focus from the actual issue. I sincerely apologise to the community — those whom I never intended to offend — but in the heat of the moment, while responding to someone’s disgusting comment, I wrote something inappropriate."

"I apologise to all my supportive friends, my family, and to the community for my way of speaking, and for the inappropriate language. I will work on ensuring this doesn’t happen again in future. I will work on my anger. And when I speak on any issue, I will use the right words. I hope you will forgive me," he concluded.

Following a controversy sparked by his comment on the Brahmin community on social media, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has issued a public apology. This comes after an FIR was registered against him at Jaipur's Bajaj Nagar police station on Saturday night.
