After being part of many successful shows such as Kullfi Kumarr Bajewala and most recently, Khatron Ke Khiladi 13, Anjali Anand has managed to further cement herself as a well-known actress after her portrayal of Gayatri Randhawa in Karan Johar’s super hit ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’. While the film continues to garner love and appreciation worldwide, Anjali opens up on the work and roles she aims to do from now onwards. She also speaks about the challenges and the many opportunities in the industry.

Anjali shares that the audience is now more aware of her mettle as an actor, “Nothing in this industry is easy, but now people know what I am capable of doing, so now it’s not about me introducing myself. I would like to do different stuff. It doesn’t get easier, but it becomes better and more familiar. The process is the same, just a step ahead. “

The actress also opens up about the variety of cinema and her openness on working across the board, “For instance, I would love to do films like Jawan, it just made me feel like this is what Indian cinema is made of. But I would also love to do something totally opposite to Jawan. I want to do different kinds of cinema and different characters. I want to collaborate with directors and people who think differently.”

In terms of the web space, the actress says she does find grey-shaded characters attractive, “I watch everything so I don’t know what kind of character I would like to do, but you do get attracted to characters which have a little grey in them.”

About difficulties one faces in the industry, the actress says that difficulties are unavoidable for everyone in every field, and even star kids are not exempt from this, “The journey of life or any profession in general is difficult for everyone. It does not matter where you come from, what level you are at, whether you are a star kid or not. Star kids do have difficulties, but they are different from ours. They are a few steps ahead but it does not mean that they don’t have difficulties. If you own a business, you won't give it to somebody else whom you don’t know. You would want to give it to your son or daughter. Your priority will be your son or daughter. So I think that’s natural. How we take care of the opportunities that are given depends on us. I don’t think our journey is more difficult than theirs, they do have certain privileges that we don’t but difficulties are everywhere. You get the opportunities in life; what you do with that opportunity depends on you. Even when they are given opportunities, they are compared to their parents. I know a lot of star kids and they are perfectly wonderful children. They are hard-working, maybe sometimes more than us because they know what they have been given is special and they cherish it.”

Talking about some of the challenges that an actor without any connections can face, the actress shares, “It’s just a waiting game. If you are privileged enough with a family and money then you can just wait, or if you can’t afford to maintain your lifestyle and are not able to wait, then you opt for smaller parts.”

Anjali also mentions the positive side of things, such as newer opportunities in the industry post Covid, “There are opportunities for newcomers. Post covid, we are making so much content. Even independently, you can make a film on your phone and post it on YouTube, which can even go viral. This industry has a lot to do with being at the right place at the right time. There is destiny, luck, hard work, dedication, and talent all involved.”

While many may choose to crib about setbacks and norms, Anjali Anand is proof that with determination and positivity, one is sure to go a long way! Her passion for acting and cinema is evident and we cannot wait to see her making her mark with many new roles on our screens!
