Twitter's blue tick verification system has been in place since 2009, and it was initially introduced to protect celebrities from impersonation. However, the blue tick has since become a symbol of status and credibility on the platform, with many users striving to obtain it. Twitter CEO Elon Musk recently announced that the blue tick would no longer be awarded automatically to verified accounts.

This change in policy has resulted in many celebrities losing their blue tick, causing a stir on the platform

Talking of which superstar Amitabh Bachchan took to his social media account and reacted on the same.

Twitter has also established requirements for verified profiles. For instance, Twitter specifies that to sign up for Twitter Blue, an account must have been active within the last 30 days. Additionally, the account must not show any indications of deceit or misrepresentation. Additionally, the blue tick on the platform is only available to users whose mobile numbers have been validated.
