Actor Ameesha Patel manages to be a newsmaker for the right or wrong reasons - on more instance than one. Usually making a splash with her posts on Instagram and at times due to her comments on several other things, she has also been a part of several controversies lately.
One would remember the infamous cheque bounce case which included her and business partner, Krunal. Now, the case has witnessed yet another development which might see Patel landing up in big legal trouble soon. The Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai actor did not appear before the court inspite of being issued with multiple summons. According to a report, the court expressed its displeasure on the same and has now scheduled for a April 15 hearing.
The complainant, Ajay Kumar Singh, a resident of Harmu in the Ranchi district, had filed a case of cheating against Patel and her business partner. As per his complaint, Patel had invited him to invest money in a film called Desi Magic.
Following that, he had reportedly invested Rs 2.5 crore to Patel's bank account for the making and publicity of the film. The shooting for the film began in 2013 but it was never made. Kumar Singh then demanded his money back since Patel and her business partner assured him that they will return his money along with interest after the completion of the film.
After repeated delays, Patel had given him two cheques for Rs 2.5 crore and Rs 50 lakh in October 2018, which bounced. She has been booked under sections 420 and 120 of the CrPC.
