Allu Arjun, who was held in Chanchalguda Jail after the Nampally Court's 14-day remand in relation to the stampede at Sandhya Theatre, was set free on Saturday morning. Allu Arjun got arrested on Friday afternoon from his Banjara Hills home after a fan passed away at the premiere of his recent movie, Pushpa 2, last week. During a screening at Hyderabad's Sandhya Theatre on December 4, chaos erupted when the actor and his co-star Rashmika Mandanna arrived. Sadly, amidst the commotion, 35-year-old Revathi lost her life, while her son remains in critical condition at the hospital. Allu Arjun was implicated as an accused in the FIR filed by the deceased's husband.
Arjun was initially put in judicial custody for 14 days and then sent to Chanchalguda Central Jail. However, the high court of Telangana later intervened, granting him temporary bail for four weeks.
Despite the court's decision, Arjun couldn't exit the prison on Friday night due to procedural delays. Jail authorities explained, "They received the bail order late at night, and there are restrictions on releasing prisoners during the night." Consequently, the actor will spend the night in custody and is expected to be released on Saturday morning.
Hyderabad police have filed charges against Allu Arjun and the theatre owners for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, citing negligence and failure to ensure proper crowd control at the film's premiere.
Allu Arjun's lawyer has criticised all of this as ‘illegal detention’, adding that they will ‘take legal steps’.
