On Monday, a media report suggested that producer Vashu Bhagnani has requested Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar to reduce his fees by Rs. 30 crores for his upcoming spy thriller film ‘Bell Bottom.’
Even before the news could catch fire, the actor took to social media to dismiss the report and called it fake. Reacting to the news report, Akshay Kumar wrote on Twitter:
"What waking up to FAKE Scoops feels like!" and added a few emoticons.
The Bollywood Hungama report had quoted a trade source as saying that: "Being primarily a film that caters to the tier 1 and 2 cities, Vashu Bhagnani wanted to keep the budget in check and hence, he requested his leading man, Akshay to scale down his acting fees by ?30 crores, as the rise in budget aside, there looms a lot of uncertainty on the release too. If theatrical, it's a given that the film wouldn't earn what it would have in a normal scenario”, and also claimed that Akshay had 'graciously agreed' to reduce his salary, keeping in mind the Covid-19 situation.
Speaking of Bell Bottom, the film is a spy thriller set in the 80s starring Akshay Kumar as a detective and Vaani Kapoor as the leading lady. Directed by Ranjit M Tewari, the film is produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jacky Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani and Nikkhil Advani.
